Why Millennials Are Going Crazy For Pontoons

Millennials have it rough. Student debt is at an all-time high and owning a home is often beyond reach. Families are getting started later in life, and careers in 5-year-old industries are asking for 20 years of experience.

The stress is real.

Despite all this, the value and pleasure of boating remain intact for this next generation. The numbers don’t lie. Pontoon sales are through the rough year over year with no sign of slowing down.

So even though financial concerns are at top of millennial minds, why are pontoons so popular? We’ve polled the audience and dug through the data, and these are the three most common reasons:

Sleek designs, comfortable fabrics, ambient lighting, and functional modular layouts create a comfortable, fun atmosphere. These boats look great at the dock, great on the water, and make anyone riding it feel like home.

Do-It-All Customization:

Not too long ago, you’d have to compromise when choosing a boat. A fast boat wasn’t roomy and stable boat didn’t steer well. You'd pretty much have to choose between cruising, fishing, lounging, and water sports.

Today’s pontoons are a fantastic combination of stable, fast, nimble, safe, and roomy. Today’s millennial, who love the thrill of a new experience, allows boaters to ski, tube, cruise, wakeboard, fish, and entertain all on one boat.  Each weekend offers something new and exciting and with dock-level entry and pontoon sizes accommodating up to 12 people at a time, you can invite absolutely anyone along.

Changing stations, cup holders, flowing-water sinks, tons of storage, and comfortable seating are always appreciated features.

What sets the tone, though, are musical options. Legend Boat pontoons come standard with AM/FM Radio, MP3 Port, and Bluetooth connectivity allows you to play your music, your way.

With all of the popularity of pontoons and how quickly tech advances, we're sure that there's more to come.

Many younger boaters assume that ownership is far out of reach and are opting for Uber style boat sharing options or daily/weekend rentals. If that's what it takes, do it! But, consider the fact the Legend Boats offers some pretty approachable financing options.

For example if you pass on your daily Starbucks addiction, you're incredibly close to being able to pay for the Splash EXT without having to dip into your savings account.

For a mere $50/week you get the free upgrade to the Premium Package, an investment that holds its value, access to thousands of Canadian lakes, and enough room for up to 8 people to comfortably lounge and entertain.

If you're fresh out of school and still building your career boat ownership may still be a few years away. Until then, make time to rent a pontoon for a weekend - or come to a Legend location near you and book a test drive - to see firsthand what a pontoon can do for you.

If you're already a proud pontoon owner, we have a great recipe to take your middle-of-the-lake picnic to the next level.
